THINGS ARE WORKING OUT AND IT’S ALL GREAT, THAT IS ALL.
No, just kidding, I will elaborate.
My friend woke me up this morning with two stressed out phone calls and was all, “Jenni, I can’t tell you what happened, but I need you to loan me [an absurd amount of money].” And I was like, “Bitch, no? That’s literally all I have.” And she was like, “Okay, well, I’ll come home and try to convince you.” And I was like, “Okay, well come home and try.” And then I laid in bed thinking about how my friend brought me out here just so she could scam me. And then she called me back and was like, “It was a scam.” And I was like, “No shit?”
So my friend gave up on the rest of her day and helped me be productive instead. We went room-searching and ate dim sum. We only visited one place, but I immediately liked it. It’s a room in a family home, fully-furnished, and I was able to get the rent lowered by $100. My friend wanted me to lie about being a student and all, but I didn’t think I could long-haul lie like that, so I was just like, yeah I moved out here recently, I have savings, but I’m looking for a part-time job in the area. The fact I didn’t have a job wasn’t an immediate dealbreaker and then, as I was walking from the house to the car, I got a text from Robin and I was like, “Hello Robin, I’ve been waiting for you!” And he was like, “You didn’t leave your number on the application.” And I was like, “Oh… yeah, I’m an idiot.”
I start work on Thursday. I contacted the person renting out said room and they were cool with my request for lowering the rent and with me moving in at the beginning of August. Are things just working out for me or am I just riding luck hardcore? I still feel like things could all go wrong, but maybe I can make it? Really?
And then the best of all best things happened today: I saw Sherman Alexie perform. He was so great. He laughed, he cried, he shared with us his stories. Now I will sleep and be happy about things.
