4. motiv8

I woke up at 6:30 a.m. today and went to walk the dogs. My friend’s apartment gym is nice and practically unused. She lives in a “luxury” apartment; pays a ridiculous $3,000 for two bedrooms and trash service because people here can afford to not carry their shit downstairs. I ran a mile in 10, then gave up because… who am I kidding, running in California? I don’t know. There’s logic in there somewhere. Altitude, weather, all that. I’m living out of my suitcase and sleeping on the couch, but it’s not bad. At least I’m not homeless.

Today my goals are to

  1. catch up with Game of Thrones (priorities, am I right?)
  2. check out the library
  3. email past professors to ask for recommendation letters
  4. write
  5. finish Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  6. apply to some part-time jobs
  7. reconnect with old friends, maybe.

My friend’s roomie is going to Europe next Monday and will be returning in August, so I’ll be able to crash freely on the couch until she gets back. I hope to move out by then. Not exactly a month, but three weeks is good enough. If I can get a part-time job or two and continue to take my writing seriously, this will all work out.

I’ll update this at night and let you know how much, or how little, I got done. xoxo bossip girl. (“Bossip” as in “boss” + “gossip,” not Bossip, the gossip magazine.)

It’s 3 p.m. and I am back at the apartment. I don’t think I’m leaving for the rest of the day because I got my car washed, went to the library, emailed people, wrote things, bought groceries, and got a part-time job.

The boba place I went to by myself yesterday was hiring so I asked for an application today. I was expecting to fill it out at home and come back, but they asked me to fill it and hand it to the shift leader there. I ended up handing it straight to the owner instead. I don’t know, I guess I’m cute or charming or something because she was like, “Okay, come back here.” I placed my boba down and followed her behind the counter. “Okay, so this is how it is. Is this cool?” I was like, “Yeah, totes.” And she was like, “Okay, we’ll call you for training.” And I was like, “Dope, bye.”

I think that means I got the job, but I don’t know. Pretty exciting nonetheless.

I came home and caught my friend and her boyfriend having sex in the kitchen and I screamed, “In front of an open fridge?” And then my friend invited me out to dinner with her, her boyfriend, and her roomie, Carla. It’s a family dinner. Alas, I must head back into the world, though I am worse for wear.

So since writing I wouldn’t go out again, I’ve been out maybe five more times. My friend and Carla are abusing my go-getter attitude and sent me to go-get diet soda and cigarettes. It’s okay because we all benefit. It’s funny how city people love the proximity of everything, but they rarely leave their homes.

Dinner went good. Carla likes me, too.

And as for my priorities of the day:

  1. Yes I caught up
  2. Yep I checked out the library
  3. No, I have not yet, sigh
  4. Wrote
  5. Did not finish! sigh
  6. Applied and landed?
  7. Attempted to text, messages did not go through.

I can’t write anymore. I just need a deep, long sleep. But tomorrow I’ll be up early so I can work out, shower, and go get my car serviced. Hopefully I get called for the job tomorrow and can begin to have “verifiable income.” Dope.
